The structural and supporting unit of body is called dhatu in modern science it's called tissue . According to ayurveda there are seven types of dhatu 

1. Rasa dhatu ( body fluids ) 
2. Rakta dhatu ( blood ) 
3. Mamsa dhatu ( muscular tissue )
4. Meda dhatu ( adipose tissue )
5. Asti dhatu ( bone tissue )
6. Majja dhatu ( bone marrow and nervous tissue )
7. Shukra dhatu ( generative tissue including semen and ovum constituent , stem cells )

On above seven dhatu our bone is made up from asti dhatu , so , to increase height height we should increase asti dhatu in our body .

8 factors responsible for increasing height:


1. Genetic -

Genes effect the height by 60 to 80 percent . Like vatha or pitha prakriti people are short or medium height whereas kapha prakriti people are tall . 

But these doesn't means that if parents are short their child cannot be tall , height of a child can be increased after changing other factors.

2. Environment :

Average height of people living in cold climate is more than the average height of people living in hot or humid climate. As cold places are kapha dominated whereas hot places are vatha and pitha dominated .

3. Food :

Eating junk and ft packaged food restrict the height growth because these foods cannot provide nourishment to our body and chemical used in them restrict the height growth.

4. Sleep :

During day time height of a person decrease by 1 to 2 inch but at morning when he wake up it increases upto 1 to 2 inch . This is because at night during sleep our body secrets human growth hormone and also repair the damage happen in during entire day . Our height is decreased during day because due to the gravity our body compress .

So , sleep play major role in increasing height of a person . A good and sound sleep makes us strong . Sleeping after 10 pm is not good as staying awake till late at night increases pitha in a body which restrict the height growth.

5. Digestion and illness :

If digestion of a person is week then also it effects the height because although he is eating lots of nutrients foods but his body is not capable of digesting it  for example if we put large utensil on a small fire to cook food , does our food will be cooked , the answer is no . Similarly if our digestive fire is week no matter how good we eat it will not absorbed by our body .

If someone has some types of disease in his body or one who fall ill regularly then also it affect the height . So , to increase height treat the disease and illness completely .

6. Position : 

Position of a body during sitting , standing , walking , sleeping etc matters a lot to increase a height . So , to increase height keep your body straight don't bend it .

7. Brain :

Person who is happy there all hormones will secrete well . Children with less burden studies or sport tend be taller than a children who got depressed over little things . So , if you are happy then the secretion of your growth hormone will be good .

1. Abhiyang :

Abhiyang means massaging your whole body with oil . As asti dhatu is responsible for height or bone growth and increase in vatha is like enemy for asti dhatu , so massaging your body with oil before bath helps to reduce vatha in your body . 

Sesame oil is best for body massage , massage your whole body with oil for 15 minutes before bath especially near backbones in the direction from down to up .

2. Exercise :

Do medium exercise like when you start sweating and taking breath from mouth then stop. Do more stretching exercises like surya namaskar , tadasan etc . 

Before exercise do apply oil in your whole body.

3. Food :

You don't have to worry about what to eat or what to not in what quantity , don't follow nutrition chart just include all six taste ( sour , pungent , sweet , salty , bitter , spicy ) in your diet daily . Don't just eat one taste food too much .

4. Sleep :

Sleep before 10 pm avoid going bed lately. 
A good sleep plays a major role in increasing height.

5. Meditation :

Nutrients helps body to grow and prevent the body from the diseases. When is not able to absorb or get nutrition from outside a nutrition deficiency occur .

Solutions : eat indian gooseberry ( amla ), lemon , capsicum , guava , oranges .

Five elements

Ayurveda says that " we all are same but we are different " means all individual body is made up of five elements but the combination of elements is different in every individual.

Our body has made up of five elements ( water, air, fire, earth, space ) and this elements forms nature ( prakriti ) of our body . There are three types of prakriti formed by combination of two different element vath , pitha , kapha and three more types of prakriti which is called mixed prakriti formed by combination of two prakriti vath-pitha , pitha-kapha , vath-kapha .

Vath   is combination of   Air + space
Pitha    is combination of   Fire + water
Kapha  is combination of  Earth + water

Vath pitha and kapha has different role in human body like vath helps in movement of food whereas pitha helps in digestion and kapha helps in nourishment . To live a healthy life these three prakriti needs to be balanced in a body .

In every person's body vath pitha and kapha is present but what decide the nature of person like how he think, how he eat, what is the quality of hair and skin , etc is what prakriti is dominating the other two . Example if vath is dominating in a individual body he will talk fast, he will have thin hair and skin etc.

Sometimes two prakriti dominates in an individual body then he will have characteristics of mixed prakriti . 

Nature or prakriti is by born nature . It is either due genetic and eating habits of mother and father or due to environment in which you are born.

Why it is important to know one's prakriti?

In a house all family members eat same food together but they will have different impact in their body . Like we know fenugreek seeds or bitter gourd has lots nutrients and benefits but we don't know that benefits in these foods might work nectar for somebody and poison for somebody else.  So, by knowing the nature of the body one can decide what he has to eat and what not and one can do better and specific treatment for their body.

Knowing the nature of your body you can decide that this food is not suitable for me although it is nutritious .

Note: All characteristics of particular prakriti is not found in one person , to identify the exact prakriti of person see which prakriti characteristics is maximum in him.

Vath ( Air + Space )

Vath prakriti people is of very light weight and body structure is very small as quality of air is light and continuously moving , So, vath dominant person will be skinny and talkative and will continuously doing something . They will not sit silently in one place.

Body type:

1. Vath dominates want speed in everything.
2. Walk fast, talk fast.
3. Always in hurry.
4. Cold body like cold hand and feet in winter.
5. Dry and thin skin , as skin is thin vein can be seen .
6. Dry and thin hair.
7. Talkative
8. Always thinking something. 
9. Talking during sleeping.
10. Less body power , gets tired easily.

As characteristics of air is light and dry. So, vath prakriti people face the problem related to dryness. Dryness is the main problem of vath dominant person from that many problems occurs . Pain in body is also caused by vath as the air in some part increases. Arthritis in old age is caused due to vath air in joint increase and it's dry the lubricants there.

Vath alone is responsible for eighty types of diseases . To reduce vath in body one has to provide warm in body as vath prakriti body is cool .

Solutions: ( mustard or sesame oil works best on vath prakriti people )

1. Abhiyang ( oil massage )
2. Apply oil in nosals.
3. Apply oil under your feet.
4. Eat heavy foods ,curd , butter , oily food is not prohibited for vath prakriti people.
5. Sweet , salty , sour food is recommended for vath people.
6. Drink warm water .
7. Take morning sunlight for one hour.
8. Do meditation.
9. Eat Jaggery as jaggery ( gud ) is warm in nature.
10. Eat Fenugreek seed soaked in water overnight.
11. Don't eat dry things like peanuts, cashew as they are dry in nature , you eat it either by soaking it in water or by roasting it in oil or ghee .
12. Avoid heavy exercises.

Pitha ( fire + Water )

Pitha prakriti people is of aggressive nature , one can relate them with fire as fire can be arouse easily the same nature is pitha prakriti person . As they have very much heat in their body they will feel very hot and because of that heat digestion power is also strong in them.

Body type :

1. Always feeling hot .
2. Likes cool places.
3. Eat too much , good digestive system.
4. Always feeling thirsty .
5. Lots of sweating , sweat smells also.
6. Bowel movement is frequent.
7. Agressive nature .
8. Leadership nature.
9. Red hand and red eyes.
10. Face hair problem like hairfall , white hair .
11. Colour of hair is brown .
12. Skin colour has yellowish shade + shinny skin
13. Lots of moles ( til ) in a body.
14. Size of a body is medium.
15. Sharp voice.
16. Medium quality skin with softness.
17. Heavy menstrual flow in women + problem of white discharge.
18. Dreams mostly related to fire.

Problems and solutions :

As they have too much heat in their body so pitha prakriti person will face problem related to excess heat . Example hairfall , white hair , red eyes , excessive bleeding during periods , sweating , stinkness , decrease in platelets , etc .


Solutions:  ( ghee is best for pitha prakriti people )

1. Drink cool water ( water of earthen pot works best )
2. Eat ghee ( clarified butter ) , it will work best on pith prakriti people.
3. Apply ghee in nosals and under feet .
4. For agressivness eat amla ( Indian gooseberry ).
5. For stinkness and sweating eat Triphala , apply sandalwood paste or rub potash alum on whole body after a bath .
6. Eat butter , natural sweet food , bitter gourd ( karela ) , indian lilac ( neem ) .
7. Use natural scented things for calmness of mind and body , example - sandalwood powder, camphor , flowers, etc
8. Sit in moon light as it makes mind and body cool and calm.
9. Try to be calm.

Kapha prakriti people generally has large body structure , their bones wide , they easily gain weight . As kapha represent water + earth which means mud which is weighty so , this type people when woke up in morning found eye gunk . Like vath prakriti kapha prakriti people will also feel cold as because absence of heat ( fire )
.

Body type :

1. Large body structure , tall.
2. Talking and walking slowly.
3. Hair quality is good, thick and long hair.
4. Big eyes.
5. Chubby cheeks .
6. Heavy and loud voice.
7. Strong body.
8. Sweat does not come easily.
9. Oily and smooth skin.

Kaph prakriti people is slow in fast moving world. Their is no heat in their body that's why they feel cold and their digestion power is also week . Disease faced by kaph prakriti people are diabetes , fatty liver , kidney stone , skin diseases , etc .


Solutions:  ( honey is best for kapha prakriti people )

1. Eat hot and spicy foods.
2. Eat bitter food like bitter gourd ( karela ) , indian lilac ( neem ) .
3. Eat spices like cumin , cardamom , fennel , Fenugreek seeds , coriander seeds , cloves , cinnamon and black pepper as all these are hot in nature.
4. Eat ginger.
5. Do hard exercise and yoga.
6. Try to eat dry things like peanuts , roasted bengal gram, etc.
7. Eat barley , corn .
8. Avoid oily foods.
9. Reduce sleep time.
10. At night eat two hours before going bed.

Mixed prakriti is not considered good , but now a days most of the people have this type of prakriti because of change in environment and lifestyle of a people.

Due to vatt and pitha extreme dryness is found in their body along with that many disease is also faced by vatt - pitha prakriti people. Among three mixed prakriti vath - pitha prakriti face most of the disease problem. Vath - pitha prakriti people have both characteristics of vath and pitha , but , on two which characteristics they are holding most depends upon which of two is dominant.

Body type:

1. Skinny body.
2. Always feel hot.
3. Less hair on head + hairfall.
4. Small eyes.
5. Thin and dry skin.
6. Not feel comfortable neither in hot climate nor in cold climate.
7. Spry nature.
8. Lots of moles on a body.
